Unlocked cars at risk of theft
We've all been there in the winter months, you start your car engine and then pop indoors for some warm water to pour over the windscreen.
A new survey by AA Car Insurance says that being careless with keys leads to a car being stolen every sixty seconds in the UK.
Two in ten Brits confessed to leaving their car running and going back into their house while the car defrosts.
A third of those polled said they keep their car keys within easy reach of thieves, and a worrying nine per cent admit they regularly leave their keys inside their car.
AA Insurance's managing director, Kevin Sinclair, had this warning for motorists: 'Modern cars are incredibly difficult to steal – unless the thief has the keys.
'Thieves are turning to more ingenious ways to steal keys such as hooking them off a hall table or key rack by 'fishing' through the letterbox, so keep keys well away from the front door.'
Keeping your car insurance up to date is essential, especially in the winter months, if you want to avoid the hassle and expense of theft. |
