More Brits using credit cards
UK consumers are using their credit cards more frequently and for smaller purchases, claims a new report.
One in three Brits polled by Marks & Spencer money said they now use their plastic for making everyday purchases and one in eight said they paid for items of £3 or less on their cards.
'Consumers are clearly more card-savvy today and are comfortable using plastic for small as well as large purchases,' said David MacKay, M&S Money commercial director.
Advocates of the credit card say that it has many advantages over cash.
Around one in five claims that paying by card enables them to keep better track of their spending, 56 per cent claimed cards were more convenient than cash and 41 per cent feel cards are safer.
Four Britons in five said they now preferred to use their credit or debit card over any other method of payment. |
