Financial New Year resolutions
Almost seven million Brits will make a new year resolution this year, and most of these will be finance-related, claims a new survey.
Of those planning to change their ways in 2006, 3.2 million say they would like to work on their financial situation.
IFA Promotion claims that however serious these good intentions are, one in five will lose their resolve within a week.
Indeed, the survey also revealed that over half of those polled make the same resolutions every year, suggesting that people don’t tend to stick to what they’ve promised themselves.
Taking the time to sort out your finances is important, and most Brits (2.7 million) would like to clear their debts next year.
A third would like to invest more money and a fifth want to try and get on the property ladder.
Karen Barrett, marketing director of IFA Promotion said: 'It is encouraging that people intend to focus on their finances as part of their good intentions for the New Year, but what we really want to see is everyone sticking to their guns.
'In 2005 it became clear that more and more responsibility will be placed on the individual to ensure their financial situation is well organised, both for now and for the future.' |
