£12m cost of withdrawing cash
UK consumers look set to incur charges of more than £12 million when they withdraw cash this Christmas, reveals new research.
Sainsbury's Bank estimates that 9.4 million cash withdrawals made this festive season will result in a fee, and currently 41 per cent of all ATM machines levy a fee for use.
The bank is today warning consumers to be aware of which machines charge for making withdrawals and says that being vigilant can save you money.
'People need to make sure that they know whether or not the cash machines they use charge for making withdrawals,' said Tim Pile, chief executive, Sainsbury’s Bank.
'We are committed to not charging people for withdrawing their money from our machines, and over the last two years we have increased our number of ATMs by 129 per cent and have plans to add more.'
Charges for ATM use range from £1.25 up to £5.00. |
