Brits should prepare for higher fuel bills
Many Brits may not have budgeted for higher fuel bills over the winter period, claims a new survey.
Unexpected bills were the main reason for people raiding their savings, says Birmingham Midshires, and it is taking the opportunity to advise people to plan their finances carefully.
New research reveals that fuel usage in the colder months accounts for around two thirds of the total fuel used over the course of a year.
The financier says that if people have already ransacked their savings during the summer and a higher than expected fuel bill comes through in winter, people may not have the money to pay for it.
Kevin Mountford, head of savings sales and marketing at Birmingham Midshires, said: 'To avoid being stung by higher winter bills and to protect savings we would advise Britons to revisit their bills from previous years so that they can make the necessary financial provisions for these expenses.'
'The run up to Christmas and the onset of winter is often an expensive time of the year and prior planning can help us keep our savings intact.'
People living in the east of England were the least prepared for summer bills, with 43 per cent claiming they had to delve into their piggybanks.
Around a quarter of West Midlanders polled said they did not budget for additional winter expense. |
