N&P launches "eco home" competition
Homeowners looking to build their own property can take advantage of a new Eco Build competition that offers the chance to win £5,000.
Norwich and Peterborough Building Society says that it is running the competition to make people more environmentally aware, and to encourage the prevention of global warming.
Around 20,000 people choose to build their own properties every year, and 'green' Norwich and Peterborough Building Society wants people to use more environmentally-responsible ways of building.
The competition is open to anyone self-building their own home, and the winner will be someone whose building has the most positive effect on the environment.
Graham Wood, managing director of N&P's surveying arm Hockleys, and one of the judges of the competition, said: 'Every year, the standard of entrants is impressive and most commendable.
'Making homes energy efficient saves people money and helps the environment – everyone wins and one lucky eco-builder will win £5,000.'
Taking the challenge of building a house can be expensive, although it can reap huge profits once the property has been erected.
The important thing to remember is careful financial planning, and taking out adequate home insurances once the property is completed. |
