Pru warns of "money myopia"

Brits are suffering to a severe case of short sightedness when it comes to their finances, according to Prudential.

The financial provider claims that not enough financial planning will leave Brits high and dry in their old age as their research shows that 80 per cent of young people are in debt.

This debt problem is not confined to young people alone, over half of over 50's owe money as well as 45 per cent of over 60's.

Prudential particularly warns consumers that financial planning is imperative for a secure future as only 20 per cent of respondents said they were happy with their investment plans for the future.

Although four in five people identified that they were uneasy about their savings they had not set up plans to combat this shortfall.

Some people were optimistic of a large inheritance to help them in later life. Some are relying on a gambling win, while others are hoping for an increase in wages.
