Abbey extends current account offer
Abbey has announced it is to extend its six per cent interest offer on current accounts until the end of January 2006.
The financier claims the move makes the current accounts the highest paying of their kind in the UK.
Abbey has also said it will provide all customers with a minimum of a £300 interest free overdraft for four months.
Any customer who decides to transfer to Abbey will be offered the option of moving their entire existing overdraft (to a maximum of £5,000) interest free.
Reza Attar-Zadeh, Abbey's head of banking said: 'The six per cent current and savings account offer has been really successful and we'd like to give more people the chance to benefit from this great deal.
The bank asserts that 54 per cent of Brits currently hold their main savings account with one of the big four banks, NatWest, Lloyds, Barclays and HSBC, and many of these consumers could find better rates elsewhere.
'These banks have got away with both paying out minimal interest and charging hefty overdraft rates on current accounts for too long,' added Mr Attar-Zadeh. |
