Honeymoon of a lifetime for £3k
Loved-up Brits are spending £3,000 on average on the holiday of a lifetime, claims a new study and most of them will fund this using credit.
Nearly one in three Brits claim that they will take on debt to experience their dream honeymoon, while only 23 per cent have specifically set money aside for their trip.
National Savings and Investments (NS&I) reveals today that the most popular place for a newly married couple is a classic beach location such as Mauritius.
With one in seven claiming that they will splurge more than £5,000 on their dream break, NS&I is warning couples to plan their finances carefully, so they aren't left paying for the trip years later.
'Many of us dream about finding our ideal partner and having a fabulous wedding, but are not necessarily aware of the costs involved', said Karen Jones, marketing director at National Savings and Investments.
'Starting a savings fund early can save a lot of money in the long term and also help get a new marriage off to a happier start without the pressure of debt.'
Other popular ways to pay for honeymoons include savings, travel vouchers from friends and family and a quarter said they would pay using their salaries. |
