Fitter people financially happier
A new report has shown that being healthy in the body and even healthier in the pocket is the key to happiness.
Money matters such as overspending, rising debts, being secretive about money and raiding the savings account are responsible for the majority of rowing in 16 per cent of the households surveyed by Legal & General Insurance.
However, being physically as well as financially fit is also important, as the survey also found that people with a healthier lifestyle tend to row less, and are ten per cent less likely to row about money matters.
Garry Skelton, marketing director of Legal & General Insurance explains: 'According to the research it would seem that a happier home life may be achieved if a good lifestyle is balanced with being in control of money matters so arguments are least likely.
'Those who have not struck a balance between diet and exercise and money worries would appear to argue the most.'
He added: 'While much attention has been given to health and obesity, managing anxiety should be no less of a priority as stress can have a serious impact on health.'
Household chores, being lazy and what to watch on TV were also major causes of rows in the home.
Demands from children, walking the dog and having the dreaded in-laws over to stay were also major contributors. |
