Credit card security important for Brits
UK credit card holders are just as concerned with security measures for their cards as they are with the interest rate, finds a new report.
As card fraud increases, the survey says that Brits are becoming more security conscious and want reassurance that their card provider is doing its best to protect them from criminals.
Four in five consumers would now choose a card with extensive security features over one that didn't but offered similar interest rates, reveals Tesco Personal Finance.
Brits are also starting to believe that cardholders should and take responsibility for their own cards.
Around 72 per cent of the survey's respondents said that Brits should make an effort to try and prevent card fraud and half felt that credit card companies should not help people who have been victims of fraud that did not properly safeguard their cards.
'Credit card security is a very real concern for many. Our study shows that people want a clear understanding of the protection they have from their provider,' said Alistair Smillie, head of Tesco Credit Card.
'We need customers to play their part by taking sensible precautions to protect themselves,' he added.
Advice for consumers wanting to avoid fraud includes never giving out card details, shredding recepits and bank statements, and keeping separate records of account numbers. |
